She made many kinds of jam, such as jam of apricots, strawberries and cranberry. But cranberry jam was the best. At that times, jams were always made in homes. Because, you didn't find any of them in the groceries. And mothers or grandmothers make homemade jams / marmalades and send to their children who live away from the home. We still make homemade jams and send to our children too.

Ingredients:
  • 1 kg fresh cranberries,
  • 1 or 1,5 Cup of water,
  • 1 or 1,5 Cup of granulated sugar, (nearly 200-300 gr. But if you want, you can add more sugar in it),
  • 1 teaspoon of butter,
  • 1 teaspoon of lemon juice,
  • 1/4 Teaspoon of lemon salt, (couple of pieces of lemon salt), (optional),

Preparation:

  1. First of all, put your all ingredients on the work surface. Secondly, wash and drain the cranberries. Then Put them and water in the pot together and boil mixture until the skins of the cranberries burst and become soft (it takes nearly 15-20 minutes). Then strain the cranberries you took from the stove and set aside the water and leave to cool.
  2. Then transfer the cranberry mixture to another bowl and crush the cooled cranberries with your hands or with the table spoon in a fine mesh strainer as in the photo (above) and separate them from the seeds. (It is easier to pour and crush the cranberry juice from time to time.)
  3. Then transfer the cranberry puree into the pot and  add sugar, lemon juice, lemon salt and butter to the cranberry puree, cook the mixture for about 20-25 minutes. Stir it time to time (until it starts to thicken).
  4. To control the consistency of jam, it is enough to drop 1 drop on the tea plate you have cooled in the refrigerator. If it does not flow easily, it means it has a consistency.
  5. Then remove the jam from the heat and put it in a clean glass jar. When your jam in the jar has cooled, close the lid. And then, store in a dark and cool place or store in the refrigerator.
Enjoy your homemade cranberry jam on toast, with yogurt, or as a condiment for various dishes!
