How to Make Strawberry Marmalade (Ev Yapımı Çilek Marmelatı)!
Strawberry is a beautiful and delicious fruit. Strawberries can be used in many different ways. They may be eaten whole, sliced or crushed. They are also an excellent addition to fruit salads, ice cream, and sorbets. This delicious fruit is also used to decorate appetizers and cheese platters, or even in a beautiful strawberry cobb salad. When they are ripe and very sweet, they can be eaten raw with yogurt or whipped cream or ice cream or with fresh cream, or sprinkled with icing sugar. They are also delicious dipped in chocolate fondue. When strawberries are overly ripe they can be used in pies, cookies, mousses, soufflés, flans, smoothies, puddings, and cakes. Here in Turkey, we love its jam or marmalade alot.
Turkish people love homemade jams and marmalades alot and they especially love them for breakfasts very much. Many of us love jams folded through Turkish thick cream, or spread on toasted, thinly sliced Turkish bread with butter. Also, making homemade jam/marmalade is a traditional event and is a super fun activity for the Turkish people. Strawberry Jam or marmalade is very special and unique food for the Turkish breakfasts too.

Our Favourite Fruit is Strawberry!
Strawberries are one of the most versatile types of fresh fruit. They can be used in fruit bouquets. Here in Turkey, a lot of people like to dip strawberries in chocolate, but they also like to be added to salads and dressings. Or how about a nice biscuit or in a cake? We are sure that your answer is "absolutely yes!".
Many people’s favorite is the smoothie. Strawberries can be added to almost all types of smoothies. Some people prefer to consume a smoothie over a natural strawberry. Whichever way a person chooses to eat strawberries, they are an important fruit that offers many benefits to the body. Eating the recommended daily serving of fruit can start with tasty strawberries!
In this post, we are going to share our homemade strawberry marmalade recipe with you. We are sure that when you try this healthy and delicious marmalade, your family and you love it alot.

Strawberries are very Healthy Fruit!
Strawberries can be eaten very diverse. And, when we ask "Are strawberries healthy?" Most people answer "Yes" to this, but not everyone is convinced. Actually, strawberries are incredibly healthy. Eating strawberries is recommended for a healthy immune system for a reason. Strawberries are an ideal source of the essential vitamin C, In addition to vitamin C, strawberries also provide an excellent source of vitamin K and manganese, as well as magnesium, riboflavin, potassium, folic acid, copper, vitamin B5, vitamin B6 and omega-3 fatty acids. They also contain significant levels of phytonutrients and antioxidants, which are known for fighting free radicals.
A person who has a cold or the flu would do well to eat a serving of tasty strawberries. They can be added to meals in a healthy diet, among other things. Strawberries can be added to salads and smoothies, but it is also delicious to eat them naturally.
How to Make Strawberry Marmalade!
Homemade strawberry marmalade or jam (Çilek Marmelatı) is one of our favourite foods for breakfast. Recipe of strawberry marmalade (Çilek Marmelatı) is not complicated and recipe is really so easy and ingredients are so simple. You just need strawberries, granulated sugar, lemon juice or lemon salt and vanilla. That's it! When the June and July months come, Turkish women rush to prepare yummy strawberry marmalade in their kitchens.
Recipe for Strawberry Marmalade!
Like us, If you like strawberries alot, we suggest that you try the strawberry marmalade, because it is much thicker than jam and you can use it in all kinds of cakes and cookies.
Here it is our Super Easy Strawberry Marmalade (Çilek Marmelatı) Recipe;
Serve: 2 Half pint jars, Preparation Time: 10 minutes, Cooking Time: 15-20 minutes, Cuisine: Mediterranean/Anatolian Cuisine,
Very good family favourite;
Ingredients: 1 kg strawberries, |
Ingredients: 5 cups of granulated sugar (1 kg or 1,5 kg), |
Ingredients: 1 teaspoon of vanilla (10 gr), |
Ingredients: 1 teaspoon of lemon juice or 1/4 teaspoon of lemon salt, |
First wash the strawberries well, |
Then removing their hulls and green tops, |
Then, layer strawberries and sugar in a saucepan overnight, |
Your strawberries release their juice until morning, |
All strawberries release their juice until morning, if not, add water when cooking, |
Next day, Our srawberries juice was enough, so that we didn't add water, |
The following day take them into blender, |
Blend them until they become puree, |
Then start cooking on medium heat until the sugar dissolves, |
If mixture needs water, add a glass of water and stir, Cooking process takes nearly 15 -17 minutes, |
If it foams while boiling, remove it with a spoon, |
Then add lemon juice or lemon salt and stir the mixture, |
Then add vanilla into mixture and stir, and cook the marmalade for a little while -2-3 minutes- and then turn the heat off, |
Now your marmalade is ready, if you don't want to consume it immediately and want to store it for the winter, put it in a clean glass jar and close the lid while it is warm, |
Then close the lid and let it cool and then store in a dark and cool place, |
Or store in the refrigerator, |
Super easy and tasty strawberry marmalade is ready for the breakfasts, Enjoy! |
- 1 kg Small strawberries, washed and hulled,
- 1 or 1,5 kg Granulated sugar,
- 1 Teaspoon of vanilla, (nearly 10 gr),
- 1 Teaspoon of lemon juice or 1/4 teaspoon of lemon salt, (we often use lemon salt, because it makes your marmalade shiny and by the help of lemon salt, you can save your strawverry marmalade for a long time in your pantry. But, it is up to you, if you want, you can use lemon juice instead of the lemon salt),
Preparation:
- First of all, put your all ingredients on the work-table. Secondly, wash the strawberries and removing their hulls and green tops.
- Then, layer strawberries and sugar in a saucepan overnight (your strawberries release their juice until morning, if not, add water when cooking).
- The following day (morning) take them into the blender and blend them until they become puree. Then start cooking on medium heat until the sugar dissolves (if mixture needs water, add a glass of water and stir). Cooking process takes nearly 15-17 minutes. If it foams while boiling, remove it with a spoon. Then add lemon juice and vanilla and stir the mixture for a little while (2-3 minutes) and then turn the heat off.
- Now your marmalade is ready, if you do not want to consume it immediately and want to store it for the winter, put it in a clean glass jar and close the lid while your marmalade is warm. Then close the lid and let it cool. And then, store in a dark and cool place or store in the refrigerator.

DeleteI don't eat sweet for breakfast nor lunch :) I am one of those people who prefer savoury things. I only jam or pekmez as we call it here, in jam filled crescents or in crepes and donuts, but I eat those very rarely, I actually do not have sugar in my house.
DeleteDay by day we try to decrease sugary foods in table but we mostly get failure. My son dont like sugary foods but i eat sugary foods (jam, pekmez-tahini mixture, cake etc) in breakfasts, lunches, even in dinners alot.
