         Today, we are sharing that "Turkish Style Oven Baked Horse Mackerel -Istavrit Fırında- Recipe ". Horse Mackerel and Anchovy are consumed very much in Turkey. Especially Anchovy can be cooked in a variety of ways in Anatolian Cousine. Such as, "Fried Anchovy (Hamsi Tava)", "Anchovy Rice (Hamsili Pilav)-Anchovy Pilaf - " and "Poached Anchovy - Anchovy Stew".

After mixing the Horse Mackerel with olive oil and place the cornmeal (or Wheat flour) in a plate and dip the horse mackerel by holding from its tail, to remove the excess flour, shake the fish off and salt, you may add some spicies (but spicies are optional); you are ready to cook.

Here it is a "Turkish Style Baked Anchovy" Recipe;

         Ingredients:

        - 1 kg Fresh Horse Mackerel, (gutted and cleaned)
        - 1/2 or 1 Cup seasoned Cornmeal, (or Wheat flour, but Cornmeal is better),
        - 2 Tablespoons Olive oil, (or Canola, Corn oil),
       - 1 Teaspoon salt to taste, (1 teaspoon Ground Black Pepper to taste, 1 teaspoon Red Flakes Pepper to taste, 1 teaspoon Dried Thyme to taste, -All spicies are optional-) 
        - 1/2 Lemon sliced, 
        - Bay leaves, (10-12 bay leaves),

         Preparation: 


     Servings: 6 Servings,  Preparation Time: 15-20 minutes, Cook Time: 15-20 minutes, Cuisine: Mediterranean & Anatolian Cuisine,

         First of all, we should clean and take the head off our fish. So, clean and cut the heads off gut the horse mackerels and then wash with cold water drain. After this process, put your horse mackerels in a bowl sprinkle salt and blend. Then, place the cornmeal in a plate and dip the horse mackerel by holding from its tail. To Remove the excess flour, shake the fish off. Then, scattered the bay leaves over a large greased oven tray (lay your horse mackerel on top) and then place your horse mackerels in layers in a large greased oven tray (set all Horse Mackerels as flat as possible so they are not one on top of the other). Cook in a preheated oven at 180°C/350°F until they start to look golden brown and crispy (nearly roast in oven for 20 minutes). Serve as soon as they are ready with seasonal salat or serve with  Turkish-shepherd-salad-recipe .
