And we think that Pumpkin is a gift from God for all dessert lovers. When you visit Turkey, especially in late fall and winter season. You can see pumpkins (or butternut squash or winter squash) in markets, groceries and bazaars very much. when the weathers turn cold and snowy, we, as Turkish people love to cook and consume Pumpkin Dessert. We love its naturally sweet and creamy taste very much. We, mostly cook and consume Pumpkins. Actually, pumpkins or butternut squash or winter squash, they are all in the same family and are largely swapping in recipes of Anatolian Cuisine. Also, we think that, pumpkin recipes are very popular throughout the world cuisines.

         In this post we are going to share our "Turkish Pumpkins Dessert (Kabak Tatlısı)". Pumpkin Dessert is a very easy to make popular and traditional recipe throughout the Anatolia. It is especially very popular in winter season. Also, this dessert is known that candied pumpkin dessert (Balkabağı Tatlısı) in Anatolia (Turkey). When you visit our country Turkey, you can find Turkish Pumpkins Dessert (Kabak Tatlısı) in sweet shops, restaurants, patisseries and hotels.

         How to Make "Turkish Pumpkins Dessert (Kabak Tatlısı)"?


        Candied pumpkin is a sweet and tender classic Anatolian (Turkish) dessert. It is made with only a few ingredients. They are : Pumpkin (or butternut squash or winter squash), sugar, water and walnut (if you want, you can use grated coconut. We, generally use it).

         As we mentioned above of the this post; we are going to share our "Turkish Pumpkins Dessert (Kabak Tatlısı)". We, generally use pumpkin, but if you say that "i only want to try a small quantity of pumpkin dessert, you can use butternut squash in your recipe". Yes! in this recipe: We used pumpkin and prefered to cook classical recipe of pumpkin dessert. But, you can find variety recipes of pumpkin desserts throughout the Anatolia (Turkey).          In former posts on the blog, we said that; there were so many meals and sweets in the Anatolian (Turkish ) Cuisine that so many of them changed from one region to another. Turkey (Anatolian) has different regions and every region has their own version of the meals or sweets like changing some of the ingredients. That's Why so many meals and desserts change from one region to another. These changable situation is same on the recipe of Pumpkin Dessert too. There are many varieties of  pumpkin desserts recipe (Kabak Tatlısı).
         Forexample:

     - To make the other variety of pumpkin dessert (Kabak Tatlısı) where the slice of pumpkin's outside is hardened and the inside is soft and syrupy. (This style of Pumpkin Dessert -Kabak Tatlısı- is from Antakya city, Gaziantep city and Adana city. And it is called Antakya style pumpkin dessert (Kabak Tatlısı). They treat Pumpkin slices with lime powder (kireç) dissolved in water, which makes the outer parts of pumpkin harder. -Kreçli kabak tatlısı recipe-).

         - To make another pumpkin dessert (Kabak Tatlısı) where the tahini (sesame sauce) between the Pumpkin and walnuts and syrup. (This style of Pumpkin Dessert -Kabak Tatlısı- is from Antalya city and it is called Antalya style Pumpkin Dessert. In this style of Pumpkin desserts recipe, the sauce over the Pumpkin Dessert is tahini. Store bought tahini is mixed well and poured over the Pumpkin dessert. We tried this style of Pumpkin Dessert before (IT IS PERFECT and We Recommend it to you taste it). We had the sauce mixed with sugar syrup (syrup of equal parts of sugar and water boiled until thick).          Recipe of Turkish Pumpkins Dessert (Kabak Tatlısı)


        You will probably love this delucious pumpkin dessert. And, we are sure that; when you try it, ypu looking forward to next try. All the material can be generally easily found. Here it is our recipe of Turkish Pumpkins Dessert (Kabak Tatlısı);

Sprinkle the sugar, then let it sit over night 


         Ingredients:

        - 350-400 gr Peeled Pumpkin cut into large cubes, (cut into thick, chunk slices),
        - 2 Cups Granulated sugar, (Nearly 150-200 gr),
        - 4-5 Clove, (it is optional)
        - 125-130 ml water, (if needed - if your pumpkins release their water or juice, you don't need to add extra water), 
        - 1 Cup Chopped walnuts and couple of pinch grated coconut, (To garnish: chopped walnuts and grated coconut),

          Preparation:


         Shortly, Turkish Pumpkins Dessert (Kabak Tatlısı) is a dessert made from slow cooked Pumpkin slices coated in sugar syrup. Preparation and cooking process are not difficult. First of all, peel your Pumpkin, cut it into big chunks (large cubes), and then place your large pumpkin cubes in a wide saucepan and sprinkle the sugar (or layered with the sugar). Then, let it sit over night. It will release water (juice), so you don't need to add extra water when you are cooking it (but if you don't get pumpkin juice, you can use 125-130 ml water). Bye the way, The ratio of Pumpkin to sugar is 1 to 1/2. For example: in this recipe; we used 350 - 400 gr pumpkin and 150-200 gr sugar. The next day, add 4-5 cloves your in to the pot and cook on medium heat until the your Pumpkin is soft. This process takes approximately 30 minutes. Let it cool in room temperature. Then, arrange the Pumpkin pieces on the serving dish and remaining syrup over. Then, garnish with walnuts or grated coconut (or both). Serve cold.

Wow pumpkin dessert in Turkish style excellent yummy scrumptious ji...pumpkins are naturally sweet and creamy one in that adding granulated sugar soaked for overnight and cooked under medium flame with cloves for 30 minutes garnished with walnuts gratedcoconut feel the juicy sugary melting tasty of pumpkin pieces droolong ji yumm yumm yumm yumm yummiest will going to try surely ji😋👏👌😍
