Chocolate and bananas are an amazing ingredient for many people since they taste really yummy. Therefore, many people would like to eat a chocolate and banana layered cake. Also, this combination of cake is very prefered for the birthday parties. And when you are searching for a chocolate and banana layered cake recipe online. There are many recipes available for it.
Generally, we buy our birthday parties's cakes from the patisseries or bakery shops. Because, children enjoy store-bought cakes more than the homemade ones. But last year and this year, we baked our birthday cakes ourselves. Further more, we baked our children's birthday cakes, we baked our husbands’ birthday cakes, and we even baked our neighbours' who live in next to us, birthday cakes too. So happy us got to bake these birthday cakes for ourselves.
Our best friend Semra's birthday was in March month. And, surprisingly her daughter (Selma-15 y.o.) made a birthday cake for her mom. We thought that her birthday cake was a great gift for Semra and we decided to share this amazing birthday cake's recipe on our blogsite. According to Selma; this was the first time she baked herself a birthday cake. She baked a simpler chocolate and banana layered cake for her mom's birthday.

How to Make Chocolate and Banana Layered Cake!
In this post, we are going to answer that question of "How do you make a chocolate bananas cake?" and share delicious chocolate and banana layered cake with you. So, get the children in here! Because, they like it so much and It also fits into your family’s balanced eating plan. This recipe is really quick and easy to make. It is not complicated.
Essentially, we tried to use good quality ingredients for this recipe. We used our favourite bitter chocolate bars and our very unique ripe bananas for this cake. We filled the cake in-between layers with custard, ripe banana slices and colorful chocolate chips, and covered the cake with chocolate ganache. Bye the way, we used our Ülker Bitter Chocolate brand and Anamur banana brand for this cake, but you can use your favourite good quality chocolate and other ingredients.
We think that our homemade chocolate and banana layered cake healthier than the typical chocolate cake (store-bought cake). This cake is mostly sweetened with fruit, and has less added sugars and oil than the typical cake. It is also made from delicate white whole wheat flour. All you need to know how to collect ingredients of cake mixture, and pour into a bowl, and stir. It’s really simple! And we bake it in a round pan (if you want, you can use square cake-pan for this recipe) to halve the baking time. It is really moist, sweet, and chocolatey.

Ingredients for cake: white whole wheat flour, eggs, Granulated sugar, vegetable oil, |

Ingredients for cake: salt, vanilla extract, baking powder, Cocoa powder, |

Ingredients for custard: Butter, egg, flour, sugar, |
|
Ingredients for custard: milk, vanilla extract, starch |
|
Ingredients for chocolate ganache: milk cream, bars of bitter and milky chocolate |
|
Ingredients of cake decoration: banana and colorful Chocolate chips |
|
Eggs yolk |
|
Seperated eggs white from the eggs yolk, |
|
Then add sugar into eggs yolk and stir, |
|
Then add vanilla extract and stir, mix them until creamy |
|
Meanwhile put eggs' white and salt and stir |
|
Mix eggs white and salt until they turn to white and frothy and set aside |
|
Add flour, cocoa powder, baking powder and oil and mix ingredients well, |
|
Mixture should be Stirred constantly, |
|
You can use mixer for the mixing ingredients of cake |
|
Lastly add eggs white mixture into eggs yolk mixture |
|
Mix all ingredients well, |
|
Now cake mixture is ready for the bake process |
|
Then place parchment paper into cake-pan, |
|
Then pour cake mixture into cake-pan |
|
Then bake it at 180°C (350°F) in the oven, |
|
Bake cake mixture in the oven for about 40-45 mins, |
|
Flatten the top of the cake by using knife |
|
Now ou have two half pieces of cake, |
|
Then put starch, flour into pot for custard, |
|
Then add milk into pot, |
|
Then add egg into custard mixture,
|
|
Then add villa extract, |
|
Cook the mixture of custard until it thickens, stir constantly, |
|
Now your cake's custard is ready, |
|
Meanwhile sprinkle the warm milk or water sugar mixture all over the pieces of cake, |
|
At the same time sliced your bananas for the decoration of cake |
|
Then spread some of the custard mixture over the first layer
|
|
Then place the sliced of banana pieces and colorful chocolate chips over the first layer, |
|
Then place the second layer of cake on top, |
|
Then spread the rest of the custard on top of the Second layer, |
|
Last process: covering the whole cake by Chocolate ganache and decoration of cake |
|
In a small pot, heat milk cream then pour it over the Bitter and milky chocolate until they are melted, |
|
Allow chocolate ganache to cool slightly and thicken before use |
|
Then pour chocolate mixture over the cake |
|
Then decorate your cake with sliced banana pieces and colorful chocolate chips |
|
Then place cake into refrigerator for a while 15-20 mins. |
Recipe for Chocolate and Banana Layered Cake
Our recipe for making a cake with layers of chocolate and banana is described below.
Here it is our homemade "Chocolate and Banana Layered Cake" recipe;
Very good family favourite;
Serve: 6-8 servings, Preparation Time: 20-25 minutes, Cooking Time: 40-45 minutes, Cuisine: Mediterranean & Anatolian Cuisines,
For cake:
- 5 Eggs, (sperate the eggs white from the eggs yolk),
- 1/2 Cup of Granulated sugar, (or less: 1/3 Cup, 1/4 Cup, it depends on you),
- 1 Teaspoon salt,
- 1 Cup of white whole wheat flour, (if you want, you can use all purpose flour),
- 1 or 2 Tablespoons vegetable oil,
- 3 Teaspoons Baking powder, (nearly 10 gr),
- 2 Teaspoons Vanilla extract, (nearly 5 gr),
- 4 Tablespoons Cocoa powder, (nearly 25 gr),
For the Custard:
- 3 Cups milk,
- 1 Egg,
- 1/2 Cup Granulated sugar, (it depends on you, if you want, you can use less than it or more than it),
- 2 Tablespoons white whole wheat flour, (if you want, you can use all purpose flour),
- 2 Tablespoons Wheat starch, (or corn starch),
- 2 Teaspoons Vanilla extract, (nearly 5 gr),
- 1 Teaspoon butter,
For Chocolate Ganache:
- 1 Cup milk cream, (nearly 200 ml),
- 1 Bar of bitter chocolate, (nearly 80 gr),
- 1/2 Bar of milky (normal) chocolate, (nearly 40 gr),
For Decoration of Cake:
- 2 or 3 Ripe Bananas, sliced small round pieces,
- 1 Cup of colorful chocolate chips,
- 1/2 Cup of warm milk and a pinch of sugar mixture for moistining cake, (or warm water and a pinch of sugar mixture),
Preparation:
- First of all, put your all ingredients on your work surface. For the cake: Mix eggs yolk with granulated sugar and vanilla extract until creamy and then set aside. Then take another bowl and put eggs' white and salt in it and mix them until they turn to white and frothy and set aside. Then take eggs yolk mixture and add vegetable oil, baking powder, cocoa powder, flour and mix them well. Lastly add eggs white and salt mixture into mixture and mix all of them well. Then stir until you get a smooth batter.
- Then, place parchment paper into your cake-pan/30 cm (nearly 9" inch) or place parchment paper into your cake mold and lock it and pour you cake mixture into a cake-pan. Bake at 180°C (350°F) oven until a toothpick inserted in the center of cake and comes out clean (nearly 40-45 minutes). Then, remove from oven and let it cool completely before inverting on a platter.
- For the custard: Stir the milk, egg, butter, granulated sugar, starch and vanilla in a pot. Then, cook mixture until it thickens by stirring constantly. Then, remove the pot and let it get warm.
- For Chocolate Ganache: Chocolate Ganache is strictly chocolate that is melted and thinned out with milk cream. In a small pot, heat milk cream till bubbles form at the side. Do not allow it to boil. Then, pour hot milk cream over the bitter chocolate and milky chocolate and whisk till chocolate melts. Allow it to cool slightly and thicken before use (or place your chocolate ganache into fridge for cooling 2-3 minutes).
- Then, flatten the top of the cake by using an knife (This separated part will also be used to cover the top of the cake). Then, cut the cake in half, so you can get two half pieces, and then sprinkle warm milk and a pinch of sugar mixture (or warm water and a pinch of sugar mixture) all over the each piece of cake for moistining it.
- Then, spread some of the custard mixture on top of the first layer, then place the sliced pieces of bananas and colorful chocolate chips on it. Then place the second layer on top. Then, spread the rest of the custard mixture mixture on top and on the side of the cake. Then pour your chocolate ganache all over the cake.
- Lastly for decoration of cake; place the rest of the sliced pieces of banana and colorful chocolate chips on topping. And then place your chocolate and banana layered cake into refrigerator for a while (15-20 minutes).
- Then serve. A cup of hot tea or our Ottoman-palace-lemonade- goes well with this birthday cake.
