Kuru Fasulye (Turkish) or Fasolada (Greek) is a dish made of white dried beans with vegetables in a stew or yummy soup like, tomatoes sauce. This meal is so yummy and so easy to make by everyone.      Recipe of Turkish White Beans (Kuru fasulye) Dish


   This dish's recipe is very easy. Very traditional version of Turkish white beans would definitely have stew meat, beef or lamb. But, we used ground beef in this recipe. If you are a vegetarion person, you can replace meat with the chopped green peppers.  

       Here it is our Turkish White Beans (Kuru fasulye) Dish's recipe - how to cook white beans?;

     Serve: 4 servings, Preparation Time: 10-15 minutes, Cooking Time: 30-35 minutes, Cuisine: Mediterranean/Anatolian Cuisine, 

         Very good family favourite;

         Ingredients: 

       - 2 Cups or 400-500 gr Turkish Ispir Sugar White Beans, (or any brand white beans/white kidney beans), 
       - 250-300 gr Ground beef (or ground lamb, or mutton), 
      -3 Tablespoons olive oil or butter, (in this recipe, we used 2 tablespoons olive oil and 1 tablespoon butter), 
      - 1 Tablespoon tomato paste, (if you want, you can use pepper paste instead of tomato paste), 
      -1 or 2 Normal size onions, chopped, 
      - 1 Normal size tomatoes, cut into very small cubes, (it is optional), 
      - 1 or 2 Cups of water, 
      - 1 Teaspoon Red pepper flakes to taste,
      - 1 Teaspoon ground black pepper to taste,
      - 1 Teaspoon salt to taste, 

      Preparation:

  1. First of all, soak your white beans in water over night and then the next day, boil them until soft or pressure cook dried beans for 35-40 minutes.
  2. Then, heat your olive oil and butter in a pot and sauté the onions until they are soft and translucent.
  3. Then, add your ground meat (Beef/Lamb or Mutton meat), raise the heat to high and continue sautéing for a few more minutes or cook until the meat changes its color. This process takes nearly 7-8 minutes. Then, add tomato paste and stir for another 2 or 3 minutes.
  4. Pour in first beans, then tomatoes, and then water until the water level is 1,5 cm (nearly 1/2 inch) above the beans. Add salt, ground black pepper, and red pepper flakes to taste. Stir once or twice very gentle (please watch out that not to smash beans, while stirring). Cover and simmer on low heat for 25-30 minutes. 
  5. Serve with rice, especially on top of rice.
