Time is holiday time!
Anatolia (Turkey) is surrounded by seas (black sea, Mediterranean Sea, Aegean sea) on three sides, it is one of the world's most important summer holiday country for the sea, sun and beach. Many cities from the Mediterranean and Aegean regions are visited by millions of tourists from June to October. When the July month or August month comes, we and maybe most of the Turkish people think their "summer holidays or short summer breaks". Bye the way, after uploading this post, we are going to start our summer holiday.
In this post, we are going to share "Healthy Mediterranean Salad" with you. In summer season, we prepare this salad alot. It is so light, healthy and delicious dish. Even it helps you to loose weight.
Can You Loose Weight by Eating Salad During the Summer?
When the summer comes, we consume different types of salads (vegetables salads, fruits salad etc.) alot. Salads of Mediterranean Cuisine (diet) are very unique, healthy and delicious. However what we eat is the most essential thing when it comes to losing weight, and this is the reason why most of us prefer to delicious salads, fruits or soup diets. No wonder, salads are far more healthy than any cooked dish. And, Salads of Mediterranean Cuisine (diet) are used to losing weight alot.
Actually all dishes, side dishes and beverages in Mediterranean Cuisine (diet) are very healthy and delicious. Also Mediterranean Cuisine (diet) is a very important example of a plant-based eating plan that can help with weight loss.
We consume "Mediterranean Salad" alot in summer seasons. It is our favourite lunch in summer. Even we eat it as dinner food. Its taste very different, very yummy and it is very healthy and unique salad. Hope you try this salad recipe! We are sure that you like it.

How to Make Mediterranean Salad (Akdeniz Salatası)!
This recipe is really so easy and simple. Also it is very colorful, healthy and unique recipe and it is our favourite recipe. We prepare it alot in summers.
Cucumber, lettuce, parsley, extra virgin olive oil, vinegar and cheese are main ingredients in this recipe. But if you want, you can add different vegetables, herbs or your local herbs into recipe. We mostly chop the herbs or vegetables by our hands (rarely use knife) because of our salad doesn't turn to dark color.
Recipe for Mediterranean Salad (Akdeniz Salatası)
You can make this salad very easily (it is really piece of cake). Its preparation takes 10 minutes. And you can consume it for lunch or Mediterranean Salad and any soup combination is a perfect dinner option for you.
Here it is our Mediterranean Salad (Akdeniz Salatası)'s recipe;
Very good family favourite;
Serve: 3 servings, Preparation Time: 10 minutes, Cooking Time: No cooking time, Cuisine: Mediterranean & Anatolian Cuisines,
Ingredients: For Salad mixture; red and green lettuce Chop them by your hands |
Ingredients: For Salad mixture; green and yellow onions |
Ingredients: For Salad mixture; cucumber and orange chery tomatoes. |
Ingredients: For salad; parsley and dill |
Ingredients: For dressing; extra-virgin Olive oil and vinegar |
Ingredients: we used pomegranate syrup for dressing mixture and we used sweet corn for salad mixture and topping |
Ingredients: For dressing; lemon juice |
Ingredients: ground black pepper and red pepper flakes for whole salad recipe and Turkish white cheese for toping |
For salad mixture: Chop dill and parsley's leaves by your hands |
For salad mixture: Chop red lettuce as small pieces By your hands |
For salad mixture: Chop green lettuce as small pieces By your hands |
For salad mixture: Chop green onions roughly |
For salad muxture: Chop yellow onions roughly. |
For salad mixture: Chop cucumbers roughly. |
Mix all ingredients well |
For salad mixture: add tinned sweet corn into mixture. |
For salad mixture: add chopped orange color Chery tomatoes into mixture |
For dressing: add lemon juice into another bowl |
For dressing: then add extra virgin olive oil, |
Mix them well then add vinegar into mixture. |
For dressing: then add vinegar into mixture. |
For dressing: then pomegranate syrup into mixture. |
For dressing: Then mix them very well. |
Then pour dressing over the salad mixture. |
For topping: divide chery tomatoes to 4 equal pieces And place them into middle of the salad |
For topping: then sprinkle the shredded Turkish white chesse over the salad. |
For topping: Lastly sprinkle the ground black pepper And red pepper flakes over the salad. |
Dont forget to sprinkle rest of the sweetcorn |
You consume this salad as lunch or dinner. Enjoy! |
For Salad Mixture:
- 1/2 Head green lettuce (you need 6-7 green leaves), chop them small pieces by your hands (or cut them into thin strips by knife),
- 1/2 Head red lettuce (you need 6-7 green leaves), chop them small pieces by your hands (or cut them into thin strips by knife),
- 1/2 Bunch of parsley, Chop its leaves by your hands,
- 1/2 Bunch of dill, Chop its leaves by your hands,
- 2 or 3 Normal size cucumber, (peeled if desired), chopped roughly,
- 1/2 Bunch of green onion, chopped roughly,
- 1 Normal size onion, chopped roughly,
- 6 or 7 Orange color Chery tomatoes, 3 tomatoes for topping (cut them four pieces) and rest of the tomatoes for salad mixture, chopped roughly,
- 1/2 Tin of sweet corn, drained and rinsed,
For dressing (Salad's Souce):
- 3 Tablespoons extra virgin olive oil,
- 1,5 Tablespoons grape vinegar,
- 1 Tablespoon pomegranate sour (syrup),
- 1/2 Lemon juice,
- 1 Teaspoon of ground black pepper,
- 1 Teaspoon of red pepper flakes,
- 1 Teaspoon of salt,
For Topping:
- 1/2 Tin of sweet corn, drained and rinsed,
- 1/2 Cup shredded Turkish white cheese, (or feta cheese, or Parmesan cheese),
- 1/2 Teaspoon of red pepper flakes,
- 1/2 Teaspoon of ground black pepper,
Preparation:
- First of all, put your all ingredients on your work table. Then, wash all ingredients (vegetables and herbs) well. Then, combine chopped green lettuce leaves, red lettuce leaves, parsley leaves, dill leaves, green onions, normal onions, chery tomatoes, cucumber and 1/2 tin of sweet corn in a large bowl. Mix all of them very well.
- For dressing: In a small bowl whisk extra virgin olive oil, vinegar, pomegranate sour, lemon juice, ground black pepper and red pepper flakes. Then, pour dressing over salad mixture and toss.
- For topping: put salad mixture into serving plate and then sprinkle the shredded cheese, rest of the sweet corn over the salad mixture. And, don't forget to sprinkle ground black pepper and red pepper flakes over the salad mixture.
- Serve it as lunch or side dish with dinner!

DeleteThis salad is absolutely gorgeous! I love a good salad, I just hate making them. As a consequence, I tend to make vats of salad that I eat over the course of a couple of days. I have all of the ingredients for this one, including fresh corn. The only thing I’m lacking is fresh dill. I have tried to grow that in the past, and it just dies off on me because of the heat. I’ll have to use dry. This looks so good that I want some now!
