Hummus is an ancient recipe straight the Middle East and Mediterranean regions. It is a combination of Garbanzo beans (chickpeas), tahini, lemon juice and smashed garlics pureed into a paste and spread on bread, chips of varying types and vegetables. There are so many forms of hummus in Mediterranean and Middle Eastern regions. Also, in the United States of America and other western countries, hummus takes a great many forms too. How to Make Turkish Style Hummus!
Hummus dish is part of Mediterranean diet which is reportedly quite good for you. This diet includes smaller portions of meat, more vegetables, plenty of hummus, seafoods, and healthy fats like extra virgin olive oil and nuts.
When combined with bread or pita, hummus makes a complete and easily digestible protein. Best of all, you can make it in minutes and feed a crowd. Simply chop a little garlic, add garbanzo beans, tahini, olive oil, lemon, salt, and pepper. Whir in a food processor or with a blender or mixer, and then you may find yourself eating it by the spoonful. Also, this recipe is adapted for the American cuisine.
Actually, hummus recipe is so easy and not complicated. Our recipe "Hatay City Style Hummus" is also easy and not complicated too. It just takes abit more time than the other recipes. Forexample; In this recipe, you should boil the Garbanzo beans couple of times and peel its shell to increase humus's tasty.

- This easy hummus recipe is great to make sandwiches for your lunchbox or simply to serve with bread sticks or pita. Forexample; spread hummus on your favourite bread. And, eat hummus and bread together for a burst of heaven savory goodness in your mouth.
- You can use it instead of mayonnaise or mustard.

Next day drain them and rinse |

Then place chickpeas into pressure cooker or pot |

Add water to cover them, set the heat to low and bring the pot to a boil |

In this recipe we used pressure cooker for first boiling process |

Then drain the chickpeas and rinse |
|
For easy peeling; put chickpeas in a bot, add water to cover them and bring boiling again |
|
Then remove the pot from heat and peel chickpeas shells |
|
Then drain them and rinse again |
|
Then peel all chickpeas shells |
|
Peel all chickpeas shells |
|
Reserve afew of whole chickpeas for serving |
|
Lastly place chickpeas in a pot and add 1,5 cups of water |
|
Cöok on medium low heat until all the water evaporates While stirring |
|
Then remove chickpeas from the heat and pour it into food processor of blender |
|
Then add lemon juice |
|
If you want you can add more lemon juice |
|
Then add chopped garlic into mixture |
|
Then add salt to taste |
|
Then add sesame seeds paste (tahini) |
|
Chickoeas and Tahini are so important in this recipe, Try to use good quality tahini and chickpeas |

Then a little cumin into mixture |
|
Then blend all of them couple of times |
|
Then turn out into dinner plate and make smooth with the back of spoon |
|
Then drizzle with olive oil, sprinkle red pepper flakes and scatter with the reserved chickpeas |

Recipe for Turkish Style Hummus;
Here it is very unique, healthy and delicious hummus's recipe;
Very good family favourite;
Serve: 2-3 servings, Preparation Time: 40-45 minutes, Cooking Time: No cooking time, Cuisine: Mediterranean & Anatolian Cuisines,
Ingredients:
2 Cups Dried Garbanzo Beans, (Chickpeas),
4-5 Tablespoons Sesame seeds paste, (Tahini),
3 Cloves garlic, chopped,
1/4 Teaspoon cumin,
1 Teaspoon salt,
1 Lemon juice,
1-2 Tablespoons extra virgin olive oil,
1 Teaspoon Red pepper flakes,
5 Cups of water,
Preparation:
- First of all, put your all ingredients on your work table. Then, wash your garbanzo beans (Chickpeas) and place them in a pot and cover with water. Then, leave them in a water overnight or for at least 12-15 hours.
- The next day, place your chickpeas in a pressure cooker or pot, and add water to cover them, and set the heat to low and bring the pot to a boil. Then, drain the chickpeas and rinse, reserve a few of whole chickpeas for serving. Then, we need to peel chickpeas shells so that again place your chickpeas in a pot and add water to cover them and bring the boil one more time (for easy peeling). Then, drain it and rinse and peel all chickpeas's shells. Lastly, place your chickpeas in a pot and add 1,5 cups of water and cook on medium-low heat until all the water evaporates while stirring (it takes 3-5 minutes).
- Then, combine the chickpeas, lemon juice, garlic, cumin, salt and tahini in a food processor, and blend to creamy puree (if needed, add more lemon juice, garlic, cumin or salt to taste).
- Then, turn out into a dinner plate, and make smooth with the back of spoon. Then, drizzle with extra virgin olive oil and scatter with the reserved chickpeas and then sprinkle with red pepper flakes and serve with pita bread,

DeleteI did not know garbanzo and chickpeas are the same thing! Thanks for that info. I do love hummus, but since chickpeas give me tummy ache for some reason, I make it with red lentils and garlic and a bit of mayo :) I do think that the cuisine of the Levant countries is my fave, I love garlic, legumes, nuts... and they don't use much meat and dairy, which is lovely for me.
